Other than the basic rules, there are other things you need to know to purchase a page in any blackjack tournament. The desk where you pay your entry fee or buy in should have a posted or printed list of rules. If not, or if you are confused about anything, feel free to ask the following questions:
- What is the buy in cost and does it include dealer tips?
- Is it possible to buy back in if you are eliminated?
- How does payout work and is it guaranteed?
- What are the minimum and maximum bets that can be placed?
- What is the time limit or limit of hands played in each round?
- How many players will move on to the higher rounds of play?
- Are there any other rules and should be aware of?
These questions will help you determine how much you will be spending for the entire blackjack tournament. You need to add together the initial entry fee, any dealer tip or incentive and the possible re-buy in cost if you are eliminated early. The payout structure is equally important to understand so you know what you can win and how it will be paid to you.
Rules for the elimination rounds may differ from the rules at the final table as well. Make sure you understand how the casino determines who advances through each round and how many people will win money at the end. For example, the first two rounds may allow two players from each table to move on, but the semi-final round may only have one winner from each table.
